🇬🇧 On summer evenings the Plaça de Castelar and the Plaça de la Senyoria, the two squares at the top of the old town of Benidorm, fill with craft stalls. What sets this market apart from the big weekly markets in the town is that the traders sell their own work: jewellery, ceramics, leather goods, decorative objects and original paintings of the coast. Because of the location the market is also known as Les Nits del Castell.
You can go every day from 19:30 until 01:00, from 1 July to 30 September. The squares sit on the headland that once held a castle, and next to the stalls you look out over both Playa de Levante and Playa de Poniente from the Balcó del Mediterrani. Come around sunset if you want that view with the market.
The old town is a maze of narrow streets and there is no parking at the squares, so walking or cycling is the practical way in. If you want to make an evening of it, the streets below the squares are full of tapas bars, and the cannons on the Plaça de Castelar were recovered from the sea and restored, a reminder of how exposed this coast once was.

Wat deze markt onderscheidt van de grote weekmarkten in de stad is dat de standhouders hun eigen werk verkopen: sieraden, keramiek, leerwaren, decoratie en originele schilderijen van de kust. Vanwege de locatie staat de markt ook bekend als Les Nits del Castell.
Je kunt er elke dag terecht van 19:30 tot 01:00 uur, van 1 juli tot en met 30 september. De pleinen liggen op de landtong waar ooit een kasteel stond, en naast de kramen kijk je vanaf het Balcó del Mediterrani uit over zowel de Playa de Levante als de Playa de Poniente. Kom rond zonsondergang als je dat uitzicht bij de markt wilt.
Het oude centrum bestaat uit smalle straatjes en bij de pleinen kun je niet parkeren, dus te voet of met de fiets werkt het beste. Wil je er een avond van maken, dan zitten in de straten onder de pleinen volop tapasbars. De kanonnen op de Plaça de Castelar zijn uit zee geborgen en gerestaureerd, een herinnering aan hoe onbeschermd deze kust ooit lag.

Lo que distingue este mercado de los grandes mercadillos semanales de la ciudad es que los expositores venden su propia obra: bisutería, cerámica, artículos de cuero, objetos decorativos y pinturas originales del litoral. Por su ubicación el mercado también se conoce como Les Nits del Castell.
Puedes visitarlo todos los días de 19:30 a 01:00, del 1 de julio al 30 de septiembre. Las plazas ocupan el promontorio donde antaño hubo un castillo, y junto a los puestos se contemplan desde el Balcó del Mediterrani tanto la Playa de Levante como la Playa de Poniente. Ve al atardecer si quieres esa vista con el mercado.
El casco antiguo es un entramado de calles estrechas y en las plazas no se puede aparcar, así que lo práctico es llegar a pie o en bicicleta. Si quieres alargar la tarde, las calles bajo las plazas están llenas de bares de tapas. Los cañones de la Plaça de Castelar fueron rescatados del mar y restaurados, un recuerdo de lo expuesta que estuvo esta costa.
