🇬🇧 On Sunday 24 January 2027 Santa Pola holds the thirty-fifth edition of its half marathon, one of the four most highly rated in Spain. The 21K starts at 10:30 from the Avinguda Fernando Pérez Ojeda and the 10K is run the evening before, on Saturday at 17:00. The field is capped at 7,000 numbers and the race sells out.
The course is flat, entirely urban and follows the coast, from the salt pans out towards the coves of Santa Pola del Este and back to the same street. It is certified by the Valencian athletics federation, with feed stations at kilometres 5, 10 and 15 and pacers setting the rhythm. North African and Ethiopian runners come every year, which is why the times here are fast.
Practical points. Numbers are handed out only at the Feria del Corredor in the Castell-Fortalesa, on the Friday from 17:00 to 20:30 and the Saturday from 10:00 to 20:00. Nothing is given out on race day. Registration opens in early summer through the official site. If you are not running, January in Santa Pola is quiet, and this is the one weekend of the winter when the seafront fills up.

De 21K start om 10:30 uur op de Avinguda Fernando Pérez Ojeda, en de 10K wordt de avond ervoor gelopen, op zaterdag om 17:00 uur. Het deelnemersveld is beperkt tot 7.000 startnummers en de race raakt vol.
Het parcours is vlak, volledig stedelijk en volgt de kust, van de zoutpannen richting de baaitjes van Santa Pola del Este en terug naar diezelfde straat. Het is gehomologeerd door de Valenciaanse atletiekfederatie, met bevoorrading op kilometer 5, 10 en 15 en hazen die het tempo bepalen. Er komen elk jaar Noord-Afrikaanse en Ethiopische lopers op af, en daardoor liggen de tijden hier hoog.
Praktisch. Startnummers worden alleen uitgereikt op de Feria del Corredor in het Castell-Fortalesa, op vrijdag van 17:00 tot 20:30 uur en op zaterdag van 10:00 tot 20:00 uur. Op de dag zelf gebeurt dat niet meer. Inschrijven kan vanaf begin zomer via de officiële site. Loop je zelf niet mee: januari is in Santa Pola rustig, en dit is het ene winterweekend waarin de boulevard vol staat.

El 21K sale a las 10:30 desde la avenida Fernando Pérez Ojeda y el 10K se corre la tarde anterior, el sábado a las 17:00. Los dorsales están limitados a 7.000 y la prueba se llena.
El circuito es llano, totalmente urbano y discurre junto al mar, desde las salinas hacia las calas de Santa Pola del Este y de vuelta a la misma calle. Está homologado por la Federación de Atletismo de la Comunidad Valenciana, con avituallamientos en los kilómetros 5, 10 y 15 y liebres que marcan el ritmo. Cada año acuden atletas norteafricanos y etíopes, y por eso aquí se corre rápido.
Apuntes prácticos. Los dorsales se recogen únicamente en la Feria del Corredor, en el Castillo Fortaleza, el viernes de 17:00 a 20:30 y el sábado de 10:00 a 20:00. El mismo día de la prueba no se entregan. Las inscripciones abren a principios de verano en la web oficial. Si no corres, enero en Santa Pola es tranquilo, y este es el único fin de semana del invierno en que el paseo marítimo se llena.
